New Years and New Weeks

You thought you could do it.  You even wrote it down.  You were so determined.  THIS was going to be YOUR year.  The year when things would go your way, or you could at least handle them gracefully when they don't.  Instead, you've come to the shocking realization that earlier bedtimes just don't happen, and earlier morning routines just aren't for you.  So instead of Mondays spent waking up early, cleaning your room, reading your Bible, and having some time to catch up on your favorite blogs (or the newspaper, if you're into that sort of thing) before getting ready to leave for a lovely day at work, you end up hitting the snooze button instead of ironing your clothes, reading your Bible in bed, realizing that now you don't have enough time to drink a cup of coffee AND brush your teeth, so you brave the day without coffee...do I really need to go any further?  Even the elements are against you!  Your car gets stuck in snow in your own driveway, and you literally slide into work.  Oh, and today is BINGO day?  It's okay, I was definitely looking forward to waiting for people to turn up their hearing aids all day.  That's a hot bowl of soup?  Thanks for warning me before I burnt my wrist on it.  Finally you can go home.  Home.  Where there is still schoolwork to be done and a bedroom that looks like your closet exploded.  Home.  Also where you can sit and drink 3 cups of coffee while blogging and nobody will judge you...well, people may judge you for your t-shirt that says "HELLO WKND" on it because it's only Monday, but who cares?  Wishful thinking.  Plus it's comfy and you got it on sale.  But despite your constant attempts to pretend it's the weekend and you have nothing to do, it's still Monday.

The New Year and the new week have two things in common: 1) They don't go as smoothly as you'd like them to; 2) Nothing good happens without a plan and some coffee.
